His methodological focus is on the impact assessment of water consumption, land use and biodiversity loss in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Multi-Regional Input-Output Analysis (MRIO). Stephan's work is highly interdisciplinary, with applications spanning multiple sectors including agriculture and forestry, material extraction and processing, as well as power production.
