Somesh Kumar received the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in statistics from IIT Kanpur, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India, in 1984 and 1990, respectively. He is currently a Professor with the Department of Mathematics, IIT Kharagpur, Kharagpur, West Bengal, India. He has authored or coauthored more than 100 research papers and edited one book. His research interests include estimation in restricted parameter spaces, estimation of measures of information and reliability, inference in directional distributions, classification of observations, limit theorems for dependent variables, and quantum information and computation. Dr. Kumar was the recipient of the Platinum Jubilee Lecture Award of the Indian Science Congress Association in 2016 and Prof. K. Srinivasa Rao Best Researcher Award in Statistics from Indian Society for Probability and Statistics in 2022. He is an Associate Editor for the American Journal of Mathematical and Management Sciences.
