Prof. Wheeler's research interests are in laboratory testing of soils, development of constitutive models for soils, numerical modelling of coupled hydro-mechanical problems and application to practical problems in geotechnical engineering. Within these general fields, the two main areas of current research are unsaturated soils and soft clays. Ph.D. Topics
Behaviour of cemented unsaturated soils (laboratory testing and constitutive modelling)
Coupling of hydraulic hysteresis and mechanical behaviour in unsaturated soils (constitutive and numerical modelling)
Anisotropy, destructuration and creep in natural soft clays (laboratory testing , constitutive and numerical modelling)
