I am Mr. Shubham Shashikant Sutar, pursuing my Doctorate Degree in “Biotechnological applications of biochar for the treatment of wastewater from textile industries” from Shivaji University, Kolhapur, Maharashtra under the guidance of Prof. Jyoti P. Jadhav (Head and I/C, Department of Biotechnology, Shivaji University, Kolhapur).
For the past four years, I've been working in the field of remediation. Initially, I worked on bioremediation employing luminescent bacteria Photobacterium leiognathi strain MS to degrade and detoxify hazardous dye malachite green during my Master's degree in Biotechnology in 2017-18. During the research paper publication, I worked on Bacterial growth optimization, UV-Visible spectrophotometer, FT-IR, LCMS-QTOF, and Enzymes investigation (Isolation, purification and quantification) linked to dye degradation. In 2019, I worked in the field of phytoremediation, where I used the Eichhornia crassipes plant's adsorption potential to adsorb the crystal violet dye. I worked on Kinetics, Isotherms, and Thermodynamics during the publication of this study. A. cepa cell toxicity analysis was used to conduct the toxicity study.
I've been working on biochar materials, which is also the objective of my Ph.D. thesis. Many scientists have developed many techniques to synthesize and modify biochar for the abatement of dye-loaded effluents, such as chemical modifications, hybrid/composite biochar, fabrication biochar columns, batch mode bed reactor, and so on. I'm currently investigating several physical and chemical approaches to create biochar with a better adsorption potential and regeneration efficiency so that I can use it in reactor fabrication. My PhD thesis focuses on the development of a reactor for the adsorption of various types of dyes that can be employed in industrial applications. The molecular mechanisms of dye adsorption, as well as their interactions, will be investigated in the present study.
