Klahn Shawna

Shawna Klahn received the B.S. and D.V.M. degrees from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, Madison, WI, USA, in 2007 and 2000, respectively. She was an Intern with Colorado State University, Fort Collins, CO, USA, in 2008. She received the Medical Oncology residency training at Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI, USA, in 2011. She became board certified in oncology with the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, Greenwood Village, CO, USA. She has been an Associate Professor with the Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences, Virginia–Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine, Roanoke, VA, USA, since 2012, and an iTHRIV Scholar since 2021. She was supported by the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences of NIH. Her research interests include oncology drug/device development using canine and feline spontaneous cancers as a translational model, immunomodulatory effects of noninvasive tumor ablation, including high intensity focused ultrasound and histotripsy, and pulsed electric fields, chemotherapy safety, and developing new cancer treatments for dogs and cats.
