个人简介
My research during PhD concerned the development of a Fuel Cell with microbe as the anodic catalyst. These bio-electrochemical systems are commonly known as Microbial Fuel Cells. During my PhD I dealt extensively with the Voltammetric analysis, Spectroscopic Methods, Materials Science which led to the development of a
novel nanobiocomposite material with optical and electronic properties that enabled FRET guided surging of photosynthetic bacteria. This resulted in stable high current in a microbial fuel cell in both day/night diurnal cycle. This was further extended to a paper based hand-held system to develop an alcohol biosensor. My doctoral studies included an in-depth microbiology, bioelectochemistry, physico-chemical, kinetics and cell-based assays. My doctoral tenure was quite rewarding with six author publications in peer-reviewed journals and many accolades to keep motivating me to progress in my research journey.
I apply my experience in DNA constructs, PCR, radioactive labelling, PK mapping, gel electrophoresis to study membrane protein insertion and translocation through immunoprecipitation. My previous postdoc tenure helped me attain fruitful experience in handling BSL2 pathogen, ELISA, confocal microscopy and biofilm assays.
My postdoc has been rewarding with two author publications in peer reviewed journals. A third one is in the pipeline. I have attained experience in mentoring grad and undergrad students. I had the opportunity to fulfill goals and timely deliver crisp data to projects funded by pharmaceutical companies and National Science Foundation as well.
I am actively involved in the project of developing a toolbox for identifying and characterizing inhibitors against membrane proteins. Identifying new compounds against membrane proteins and novel routes of inhibitory action can aid the discovery of new drugs and combat antibiotic resistant pathogens. My skills in biochemistry, cell biology, protein expression and purification come in handy to oversee the progress of the project. I am applying split GPF technique in combination with single molecule studies to meet the goals of the project.
I am always looking forward to expand my research horizon and fulfill my urge to discover/learn something new everyday.
