Serge L. Ferrari

Head of the Clinical Service and Research Laboratory of Bone Diseases, and Chairman of the Academic Department of Medicine at the Geneva Faculty of Medicine and University Hospital, Switzerland. Former Chair, currently Vice-Chair of the Council of Scientific Advisors, and co-chair of the Capture the Fracture (CTF) program at the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF). Currently President of the Swiss Association Against Osteoporosis and past President of the Swiss Bone and Mineral Society. I have been a member of the editorial board of several scientific journals including the Journal of Bone Mineral Research, Osteoporosis International and Bone, and the Editor-in-Chief of BoneKey. I have published over 300 articles and book chapters in the field of osteoporosis and bone and mineral metabolism. Our clinical research focuses on the microstructural determinants of bone fragility and the development of fracture prediction algorithms, whereas our basic and translational research aims to understand the molecular and pharmacological mechanisms of bone fragility, with a focus on diabetes bone disease and modelling-based bone formation.
