My research is mainly focused on physiological role of carbonic anhydrases and pH regulation in different organisms. Main positions of trust I have served in the following positions of trust: scientific advisor of several EU-funded projects, chairman of the Research Council (University of Tampere), chairman of the Preparatory Group for Tampere3 research, and board member of FinnMedi, Ltd. At the moment, the main positions of trust include: editorial board member of Journal of Enzyme Inhibition and Medicinal Chemistry, chairman of the advisory board of Finnish Medical Foundation, board member of Pirkanmaa Hospital District, board member of Tampere University Foundation, board member of UKK Institute, and chairman of FinELib strategic board.
