Sean McCarthy

Sean T. McCarthy is with Dolby Laboratories, San Francisco, CA, USA. Prior to that he worked at ARRIS, Suwanee, GA, USA. He leads advancements in state of the art of video processing, compression, and practical vision science. Previously, he held similar responsibilities as a Fellow of the Technical Staff at Motorola, and as a chief scientist at both Modulus Video, which was acquired by Motorola, at ViaSense, University of California, Berkeley, spin-off that developed commercial applications of the human visual system. He earned a BS degree in physics from Rensselaer Polytechnic and a PhD degree in bioengineering jointly at University of California, Berkeley, and University of California, San Francisco.
