My research is at the intersection of human-computer interaction, computer-mediated communication, and computer-supported cooperative work. I'm interested in the use and perception of information communication technology from an international perspective, with an eye toward defining design principles that consider non-Western cultural values. In addition, I look at how people use and appropriate social networking services in crisis events, and in humanitarian response.
