Sara Santero

I am Sara Santero, Nutritional Biologist living and working in Italy. I graduated in Biological Sciences (bachelor’s degree) at the University of Pisa with a grade of 110/110 cum laude. I prepared the final internship report “Report of the Experimental Biology internship at the department of Biochemistry”. I wrote my compilative thesis entitled “Hexokinase II: key enzyme for growth, defense and energy metabolism of the cell”. I graduated in Human Nutrition Sciences (master’s degree) at the University of Pisa with a grade of 110/110 cum laude. I prepared the final internship report “Swine productive supply chain: food products, associated risk, and recent sector trends”. I wrote a report on an algal food raw material entitled “Economic value of the seaweed Ulva lactuca L.”. I wrote my experimental thesis entitled “Tumor microenvironment in glioblastoma: modulation of the purinergic system”. The university of Pisa also awarded me two medals (one for my bachelor's degree and one for my master's degree) for academic merit. I completed a level II master's degree in Dietetics and Clinical Nutrition at the University of Pavia with a grade of 110/110 cum laude. I was part of the research team of the FOOD-AUT project (targeting adults with autism spectrum disorder in a collective catering setting). I wrote my experimental thesis entitled “FOOD-AUT pilot study: focus on nutrition of individuals with autism spectrum disorder”. I am currently a Research Fellow at the Laboratory of Dietetics and Clinical Nutrition (LDNC), Department of Public Health, Experimental and Forensic Medicine, University of Pavia. I am part of the research team of the FACILITY project (targeting ethnic minority children with obesity in an hospital setting).
