Samuel Xavier-de-Souza

Holds a Computer Engineer degree by Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte-UFRN, Brazil, 2000, and a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering by Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium, 2007. Worked for IMEC as a Software/Hardware Engineer and for the Flemish Supercomputing Center as a High-Performance Computing Consultant. In 2009, joined the Department of Computer Engineering and Automation at UFRN where currently is an Associate Professor. He is a founder and current Director of the High-Performance Computing Center-NPAD at UFRN. In 2016, became a Royal Society-Newton Advanced Fellow for his research on Software Energy. Current interests include High-Performance and Energy-Efficient Computing and Communications and applications.
