Stella Vallejos

I completed my Ph.D. at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (Spain) in 2008. Currently, I am a tenure track Ramón y Cajal researcher at the Institute of Microelectronics of Barcelona (IMB-CNM, CSIC). My research focuses on gas sensors technologies and functional nanomaterials, including the exploitation of microplatforms for lowering power consumption, applications in air-quality monitoring, and volatile organic compound-based biomarkers detection. Throughout my research career, I have worked in centers of different countries (ES, UK, FR, CZ). I have been awarded competitive fellowships, including Juan de la Cierva and Marie Curie. I have also participated in multiple national and international projects, having been principal investigator in 6 of them. Moreover, I have mentored students and supervised four doctoral theses, and while working in the industry, I managed R&D&I projects. Other achievements include my work as a reviewer in specialized journals, my activities as guest editor of two special issues in Sensors MDPI, and my appointment as an evaluator for various funding agencies at ES, CZ, PL, DE, EE, UK. Overall, my activities allowed me to approach younger researchers and the non-specialized public via conferences, workshops, teaching classes, and motivational talks, particularly to young women audiences in Ibero-America.
