A PhD graduate of the University of Delaware, Vish Prasad has dedicated his career to creating diversity in the academic engineering community. As the interim dean of engineering for Wichita State University, he has overseen a wave of faculty hires which include four women and three minority professors. In his previous role as the vice president for research and economic development at the University of North Texas, Vish Prasad sat on the President’s Diversity Council, the university’s highest ranking committee devoted to providing opportunity to women and minorities in the university.

A prominent figure in the field, Vishwanath Prasad has been recognized by several university and industry groups for his commitment to diversity in education. In addition to receiving the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology’s (ABET) President’s Diversity Award, Dr. Prasad was honored by the Hispanic Engineer National Achievement Awards Corporation (HENAAC) for his contributions to engineering education in the Hispanic community.

In addition to his commitment to diversity as a university administrator, Vish Prasad has spent nearly three decades as an award-winning engineering professor. While serving as a professor at the University of North Texas, Dr. Prasad received two grants from the National Science Foundation totaling $1.6 million. A widely published scholar, his articles have appeared in numerous peer-reviewed journals.
