Seppo Sipilä

Seppo K. Sipilä received the D.Sc. degree in physics from the Helsinki University of Technology, Espoo, Finland, in 1997. From 1989 to 2009, he was a Teaching Assistant and a Research Associate with the Nuclear Engineering Laboratory (later called the Laboratory of Advanced Energy Systems), Helsinki University of Technology. He is currently a Senior Research Associate with the Department of Applied Physics, School of Science and Technology, Aalto University, Espoo, and a Lecturer on nuclear engineering. His main research interest is the computer simulation of charged particle motion in tokamak plasmas, ranging from reverse runaway electron studies and radio-frequency heating and current drive simulations to full-orbit fusion alpha wall load simulations for ITER. He is one of the principal authors of the orbit-following Monte Carlo code ASCOT. Dr. Sipilä is a member of the European Physical Society and the Finnish Physical Society.
