个人简介
Sandra Søgaard Tøttenborg's profound interest in understanding and mitigating the human health consequences of environmental pollutants was founded at the Department of Environmental Health, Harvard School of Public Health, where she participated in groundbreaking research into the long-term consequences of exposure to exogenous substances including PFAS and PCBs . After completing her PhD in Public Health and Epidemiology from University of Copenhagen in 2016 within the field of pharmaco-epidemiology uncovering patient characteristics associated with non-adherence to prescribed regiments and the influence of adherence on clinical prognosis of COPD, she pursued her interests in toxicity of environmental and occupational exposures at the Department of Occupational and Environmental Medicine at Bispebjerg Hospital in Copenhagen, Denmark. The past two years, she has been academic lead of the department’s research group for Environmental and Reproductive Epidemiology. She is principal investigator of two large-scale international collaborative projects all dedicated to examine the health effects of various POPs including PFAS, PCBs and phthalates: FEPOS (Fetal Programming of Semen Quality), HESPAIR (Health Effects of PCBs in Indoor Air), and co-PI of RUBIC (The ReproUnion Biobank and Infertility Cohort). She is also part of an investigation about the extent to which employees in the Capital Region are protected against being infected with COVID-19 and finding explanations for possible infection. She has 24 scientific publications (6 first author and 6 last author) in international peer-reviewed journals and 5 publications (5 first author) in Danish journals.
