Selma Mededovic Thagard was born in Zagreb, Croatia, in 1978. She received the B.S. degree in chemical engineering from the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology, University of Zagreb, Zagreb, in 2001, and the Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering from Florida State University, Tallahassee, FL, USA, in 2007. From 2007 to 2009, she was with the Toyohashi University of Technology, Toyohashi, Japan. In 2009, she joined Colorado State University, Fort Collins, CO, USA, where she was involved in plasma etching. Since 2010, she has been with Clarkson University, Potsdam, NY, USA, where she is currently an Assistant Professor with the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. Her current research interests include the production of biodiesel using plasmas, wastewater treatment using electrical discharges and ultrasound, and mathematical modeling of plasmas.
