My current research focus on the application of both in vivo biodynamic approaches and computational techniques to understand the role of biomechanics in causations, prevention, evaluation, and treatment of the body injuries. I am best known for my research on creating a new pathway to evaluate muscle fatigue and injury mechanism.
I have obtained an M.S. and a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering with the specialization of Biomechanics and Ergonomics in the Department of Industrial and Management Systems Engineering at the West Virginia University (WVU) in 2012 and in 2016, respectively. During my time in WVU, I acquired a broad skillset, focusing mostly on the systematic investigation of various workplace activities to understand the injury mechanism. As such, I decided to pursue the injury mechanism of shoulder joint, a research area which has substantial international interest both in sports and occupational arena in terms of cost and lost-work days. My Ph.D. dissertation focused on formulating a shoulder injury model based on the shoulder stabilization mechanism and quantifying the risk of shoulder exertions during occupational activities.
After my Ph.D., I joined at the University of Pittsburgh as a Postdoctoral Research Associate and acquired a unique skillset on how to conduct research using dynamic stereo-radiography (dynamic X-ray) system to track bone position and orientation during dynamic activities. This is the state-of-the-art method to determine bone movement during dynamic activities and clinical surgery. To my knowledge, only seven or eight research groups in the world conduct biomechanical research using dynamic X-ray system. Therefore, on a broad sense, I could claim that I possessed a unique skill, which is obvious in concurrent and future research implications in the United States. As an Assistant Research Scientist at the Texas A&M University, my current research is focusing mainly on developing subject-specific neck musculoskeletal models to simulate neck-intensive tasks to prevent or intervene neck pain incidence.
Thus far, I have published 8 peer-reviewed articles in the leading journals in my field, including 3 articles in peer-reviewed conference proceedings and also presented my works in the reputed conferences. My work has been cited in excess of 80 times by researchers from all over the world, including various research groups in the United States. Therefore, I firmly believe that I have the expertise, training, and motivation necessary to successfully carry out the research related to the musculoskeletal health that have a considerable impact upon the field in the United States and beyond.
