My main research area is Hg biogeochemistry in the aquatic ecosystems. Presently, my research is focused in saltmarsh ecosystems in which I´m using Hg stable isotopes to evaluate rates of MMHg production and evaluate the role of halophyte plants in methylation potential. I am studying the Hg toxicokinetics and toxicodynamics in plants from different estuarine environments. I am also focused in Hg isotope fractionation in order to evaluate Hg sources, processes and fate in aquatic ecosystems.
