Rogerio V. Gelamo

Associate Professor at the Federal University of Triângulo Mineiro, (Minas Gerais State, Brazil), I have a bachelor's degree in Physics (1999), a Master's degree (2002), PhD in Physics (2007) and a postdoctoral degree at the Center for Semiconductor Components at Unicamp (2008-2010). I have experience in Applied Physics, with an emphasis on Condensed Matter Physics, working mainly on the following topics: synthesis of thin films, ion implantation, plasma processes for deposition and treatment of materials. Currently, I have the following techniques in operation in our laboratory at UFTM : PECVD, Sputtering, Thermal Evaporation, HFCVD, Dip-Coating). I have worked in synthesis, functionalization and characterization of graphene multilayers with different nanoparticles, use of techniques based on cold and reactive plasmas for the development of thin films, sensors, biocompatible materials, corrosion resistant films and others. I have been investigating the interaction mechanisms between contaminants, enzymes, cells, and other biological substances with surfaces of carbon nanotubes, graphene, thin films of oxides and carbon. We have also obtained and studied different composites aiming to improve their mechanical and electrochemical properties for different applications, such as polymeric composites, ceramics, chemical and biological sensors, nanofluids for applications in machining and energy use. We have recently produced several solid state and self-standing flexible supercapacitors, with publications in high impact factor journals as well as patents deposited with the INPI.
