Ms Elena Sonsoles Rodríguez is PhD in Physiotherapy from Universidad de Sevilla (2013). She graduated in Physiotherapy in 2004, Master in Sports Physiotherapy from the Universidad Complurtense de Madrid and Training in Urogynecology and Obstetrics. In 2011 she completed the Training Itinerary of Doctor in Health and Sports at the University of Cádiz. She began her scientific career studying the effect of liver pumping on portal flow. In 2013, she defended her doctoral thesis at the University of Seville, under the direction of Mr. Ángel Oliva Pascual-Vaca. At the research level, Elena has more than 10 publications in JCR journals, and 4 articles in SJR journals. Since June 2018, together with María Barbaño Acevedo created IUDANAR (Urinary Incontinence in High-Level and High-Performance Sport), developing a comprehensive epidemiological study on Urinary Incontinence at national level, together with the RFEA and AEPSAD. Their publication "Prevalence of urinary incontinence among elite athletes of both sexes" in the Journal of Science and Medicine in Sport. For two consecutive years they have obtained the requested funding in the call for Women and Sports of the Higher Sports Council. Moreover, since 2012 she has participated as main researcher in 3 projects funded by the Spanish Coordinator of Spondyloarthritis Associations (CEADE) and La Caixa. She has been a collaborator of the project " Atlas y Evaluación Socioeconómica del Modelo Asistencial Actual de la Espondilitis en España" in collaboration with CEADE and Universidad de Sevilla, with national and international dissemination. Within UCJC, she has been the principal investigator of 3 completed research projects and 3 teaching innovation projects, which have led to 1 publication in congress and 3 JCR publications that are pending acceptance. On the other hand, she currently directs 4 doctoral theses. In the educational field, Ms. Elena Sonsoles Rodríguez López is a full-time Contracted Professor of the Department of Physiotherapy of Universidad Camilo José Cela since September 2013. Since 2016 she has participated as a professor of Research Methodology in the University Master in Physiotherapy and Readaptation in Sports at UCJC. She has also participated in postgraduate teaching at the national (Seville, Granada, Zaragoza, Salamanca ...) and international level (Portugal, Mexico, Italy, Ecuador). Recently, she has participated in the interuniversity exchange with Boston University, accompanying 10 students during their stay in June 2018 and giving a presentation on incontinence in sport. She is currently co-director of the Novafisio Salud Physiotherapy Center (Madrid). Since 2013 she has participated Conferences and Events of the UCJC Department of Physiotherapy, in 2017 she participated in the VIII Congress of the World Federation of Athletic Trainer and Therapy. Elena has also worked as a physiotherapist in the public health system of Castilla la Mancha (2008-2010).
