Roberto De Ponti

Roberto De Ponti graduated in Medicine in 1985 at the University of Pavia, Italy and obtained specialization in Cardiology four years later. Since the beginning, he devoted himself to invasive and non-invasive evaluation of cardiac arrhythmias and, in the late ’80s, he cooperated with cardiac surgeons in antiarrhythmic surgery. Since 1990, his research and clinical practice have focussed on interventional electrophysiology and catheter ablation of cardiac arrhythmias with particular emphasis on complex arrhythmias, ventricular tachycardia and atrial fibrillation. Three-dimensional mapping with imaging integration and development of simulators for training in electrophysiology are also in his main field of interest. He is the author of several papers on cardiac arrhythmia published in peer-reviewed international journals. He is fellow of the Heart Rhythm Society. He is a reviewer of the main international journals on cardiovascular diseases and arrhythmias and a member of the editorial board of Heart Rhythm Case Reports and the World Journal of Cardiology. He is actually associate professor of Cardiology at the University of Insubria, Varese, Italy and chief of the Arrthythmia Unit at Ospedale di Circolo e Fondazione Macchi, Varese, Italy.
