Roberto Cremonini

Roberto Cremonini was born in Rome, Italy. He received the master’s degree (Hons.) in physics from the University of Turin, Turin, Italy, in 1993. He was a Weather Forecaster in Piedmont, Italy, until 2001, and he has been responsible for the regional weather radar network since 2000. Since 2009, he has been responsible for the Regional Meteo-Hydrological Centre for flood, landslide, and avalanche risks evaluation in the framework of the Italian National Civil Protection. Since 2010, he has been an academic tenured Professor in meteorology with the Univeristy of Turin. He was the Italian Delegate at the 16th Regional Association VI Management Group, World Meteorological Organization Meeting in 2013. He actively contributes to the development of meteorological and polarimetric radar products for the Italian weather radar network which is coordinated by the National Department of Civil Protection. He manages very large environmental databases, processing data in georeferenced environment and applying data fusion techniques. In 2017, he developed multichannel floods and severe weather warning system, such as sms, e-mail, and social media, and Web-based geographic information system tools to support the activities of the Piedmont meteo-hydrological. He is responsible for the management of European funded projects in the environmental field. He is also the Project Manager in national and European radar and meteorological programming projects, including URAMET, CRISTAL, OPERA, QUITSAT, and PROMOTE. He is also a trainer on remote sensing monitoring techniques. He is an expert on radarmeteorology, satellite meteorology, remote sensing, and meteorological nonconventional observations and processing, such as radiometers, wind profilers, automatic weather sensors, and disdrometers, for meteorological monitoring and nowcasting.
