Dr. Robert Sandler is professor of medicine and epidemiology. He is a practicing gastroenterologist with research interests in the epidemiology of chronic digestive diseases. He has conducted population based studies of colorectal cancer and hospital-based studies of colorectal adenomas (the precursors to most colorectal cancers). His current funded research includes a cross-sectional study of diverticulosis and an Internet-based cohort study of patients with inflammatory bowel disease with a focus on patient reported outcomes. His current research is funded by the NIH and the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America.
