Rizwan Nasir

I am an innovative, highly motivated, and problem-solving R&D chemical engineer, academician, and scientist with more than 15 years of experience in teaching and academic/industrial research (post-PhD 6.6 years, Ph.D. 4.5 years, and pre-PhD 4.3 years). My research expertise is in membrane technology for carbon dioxide separation and water treatment; renewable fuels, CO2 capture, coal mineralization, materials development; and characterization using advanced analytical tools, particularly in the energy sector, including research expertise in the development of innovative research methods, data modelling; management research grants, and proposal writing within a multidisciplinary research domain and copes with the challenges of focusing on the energy sector. I am currently leading six research projects (03 as PI and 03 as Co-PI) related to CO2 capture through membranes, water treatment through membranes, and biodiesel production via algae biomass. I have written 42 ISI impact factors, 10 Scopus and refereed publications, 10 book chapters, and edited an indexed research journal and a CRC (Taylor and Francis) book on carbon capture. I am co-editing a special issue for the MDPI Energies journal with a peer at Teesside University. Moreover, I have presented my work at 05 international conferences. I have been invited as a reviewer for more than 15 journals. In 2022, I have been appointed to the Membranes (MDPI) journal's Topical Advisory Panel. I have professional memberships with the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE), American Chemical Society (ACS), European Membrane Society, Pakistan Engineering Council, Pakistan Membrane Society, International Association of Engineers, and Society of Chemical Industry. I have vast experience teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels of chemical engineering in Pakistan, Malaysia, and Saudi Arabia. I have taught about 12 modules of chemical engineering. I have also taught skill development courses in the chemical engineering department as part of the "Skills for Job 2017" program run by City & Guilds UK and the Government of Punjab, Pakistan. In 2009, the department of chemical engineering thanked me for making sure that teaching went smoothly. Furthermore, I served in a variety of co-academic administrative roles, including membership in a renewable research center and departmental work related to accreditation document preparation. I have experience in the supervision of postgraduate and undergraduate students. In short, my 15 years of academic research and teaching experience in core and applied chemical engineering subjects, my strong research record in the energy sector, and my desire to help make me a great candidate to contribute to the academic research community.
