个人简介
The nocturnal physiological mechanisms underlying memory formation is starting to be understood. Emotions play a critical role in the targeted selection of memory potentiation. Yet, the emotional reactivity related to these memories is dampened over the course of a night's sleep. This dampening seems to be dependent on the inactivity of the locus coeruleus during REM sleep. But, abundant cortical arousals, suggesting that LC activity continues into REM sleep, have been observed in Insomnia Disorder and other affective disorders. My aim is to understand the mechanisms of overnight regulation of emotional memory, in health and in sleep disorders.
