Richard W. Troughton

I am a cardiologist with sub-specialty expertise in echocardiography, non-invasive cardiac imaging, heart failure, pulmonary hypertension and diagnostic cardiac catheterisation I am clinical co-director of the Christchurch Heart Institute (CHI), a University of Otago Research Centre. My research interests include novel treatments and monitoring of heart failure, non-invasive cardiac imaging, understanding the role of neurohormonal factors in health and cardiovasvular disease, using biomarkers to improve the diagnosis, risk stratification and management of cardiovascular disease. I completed my PhD with the Christchurch Cardioendocrine Research Group - now called the Christchurch Heart Institute. in 2001-2003 I completed post-graduate fellowships in Advanced Cardiac Imaging and in Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplantation at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation
