Richard Sharpe

Richard studied civil engineering in South Africa, where he did a Master’s degree investigating the influence of reeds on deposition of sediment from suspension. He subsequently worked in consulting mostly in the flood risk management industry, initially in the UK and then in Australia where he is now based. During this time, his experience was focussed on flood hydrology and hydraulics. Richard undertook a PhD at Griffith University, researching interactions between fluvial processes and riparian forests in the context of floods in rivers along the east coast of Australia. He now works for a bulk water supplier using his knowledge to support operational flood hydrology and dam safety activities.
