Career Trajectory
Bio
I completed the First Degree in Physics, with minor in Mathematics, at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto (FCUP) in 2011, with an average mark of 14.3/20. Still within this course, was granted a BII in the eld of Ultra short Lasers and Non-linear Optics: Atoseconds. Following my determination and enthusiasm in the eld of Physics, has soon has I nished my rst degree I proposed myself to enroll in a summer traineeship in the business world, and for two months I oered specialized services in research and development at laboratorial level of electrical characterization techniques of polymeric materials. My curiosity in the professional research eld of physics has also led me into many organized laboratory trips to the INL, ITN, Leica, Nanium and IBMC. Immediately after I nished my Master Degree in Experimental Physics, with an average mark of 16/20. These formations gave me a very strong background in fundamental physics and mathematics, as well as programming and experimental skills. The master thesis that I am developed was Magnetically-induced Ferroelectricity unraveled through Spin-phonon coupling at IFIMUP (Instituto de Física dos Materiais da Universidade do Porto), studying the rare-earth manganites physical properties at low temperatures, in a search to understand the spin-phonon coupling key role in the emergence of ferroelectric phases, through considering complex microscopic theoretical models. By doing myself most of the experimental work, it has strongly improved my experimental skills and know-how of several important characterization techniques, such as X- ray diraction along with Rietveld renement, Raman spectroscopy and data analysis, dielectric and polar measurements and SQUID magnetometry. This work gave the proper know-how to be admitted in a research project, PTDC/FIS-NAN/0533/2012, entitled Spin-phonon coupling and magnetically induced ferroelectric phases, which is my current activity. Moreover, my soft skills as a researcher within an investigation group have progressed. The results obtained from my work have granted me 6 oral communications at dierent in- ternational conferences. These communications at international symposiums have provided me an interesting close contact with renowned and inuent researchers, as well as the opportunity to share knowledge and dierent perspectives with colleges. Furthermore, I have was invited to present a lecture in the class of Advanced Statistical Physics / Phase Transitions of the Master Course in Physics at FCUP and have received an award for Best Student Talk at VIII IFIMUP Workshop.
