Rita Deiana is an Associate Professor of Applied Geophysics (with national scientific habilitation as Full Professor) at the Department of Cultural Heritage of the University of Padua. Since 2017, she has directed the Interdepartmental Centre for Research, Study and Conservation of Archaeological, Architectural and Historical-Artistic Heritage (CIBA) at the University of Padua. Her research interests and her scientific production, up to now, are the result of interdisciplinary collaborations in the geological, engineering and humanistic research fields, developed over the years with national and international departments and research centres, on issues mainly concerning the study of complex systems. Since 2012 her research activity has focused on geophysical prospecting in archaeology and non-invasive methods for cultural heritage, with particular attention to the analysis of historical buildings and valuable surfaces (mosaics, frescoes, stone coverings) and the study of any related phenomena of instability and degradation. In this context, she deals with the GPR data acquisition and processing, FDEM, Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT), magnetic and magnetic gradient measurements, holographic radar measurements, IR thermography and multispectral imaging, starting from the field scale up to micro-scale applications. She is the author of more than 60 publications on impact factor journals, while her contributions in conference proceedings, books and other journals consist, to date, of more than 110 titles. She is responsible for teaching Principles of Applied Geophysics and Technologies for Archaeological Research in the Bachelor Degree in Archaeology and Non-invasive Methods for Cultural Heritage Diagnostics in the Master Degree in Archaeological Sciences Department of Cultural Heritage. Tutor and co-tutor in bachelor and master theses, as in doctoral theses in History, Criticism and Conservation of Cultural Heritage. In the academic year 2020-2021, she also taught the course Geophysics for Cultural Heritage in the Master's Degree Geophysics for Natural Risks and Resources at the Department of Geosciences. In the past, she has been in charge of teaching and teaching support for several courses in the Master's Degree Program in Geology and Technical Geology and the Bachelor's Degree Program in Geology, for the Department of Geosciences, where she was also a member of the Doctoral School in Earth Sciences. She is currently a member of the College of the Doctorate Course in History, Criticism and Conservation of Cultural Heritage.
