Piero Baraldi

Piero Baraldi received the B.S. degree in nuclear engineering and the European Ph.D. degree in radiation science and engineering from the Politecnico di Milano, Milan, Italy, in 2002 and 2006, respectively. Since September 2021, he has been a Full Professor of Nuclear Engineering with the Department of Energy, Politecnico di Milano, where he was an Associate Professor from 2015 to 2021. He is the author or coauthor of two books and more than 200 papers in international journals and proceedings of international conferences. He has been invited to present four tutorials at international conferences. His main research interests include the development of methods and techniques for system health monitoring, fault diagnostics, prognostics, and maintenance. His research interests also include methodologies for rationally handling the uncertainty and ambiguity in the information. Dr. Baraldi was an Invited Keynote Lecture at the plenary sessions of 2014 European Safety and Reliability Conference (ESREL), Wroclaw, Poland, of 2016 Prognostics and System Health Management Conference, Chengdu, China, and of 2019 International Conference on System Reliability and Safety, Rome, Italy. He was the Technical Program Chair of 2013 Prognostics and System Health Management Conference, Milan, Italy, and of the 2020 ESREL-2015 Probabilistic Safety Assessment and Management Conference, Venice, Italy, and the Technical Committee Co-Chair of Safety and Reliability Conference, ESREL 2014, Wroclaw, Poland. He is an Editorial Board Member of three international scientific journals. He is an Associate Editor for Journal of Risk and Reliability. He was a Treasurer of the European Safety and Reliability Association (ESRA) from 2014 to 2018. He is the Chairman of the ESRA Technical Committee on “Prognostics and System Health Management.”
