Pierluigi (Enrico) Bonello currently works at the Department of Plant Pathology, The Ohio State University. Enrico's research is a fusion of Plant Science and Chemical Ecology related to tree-pathogen interactions, applied specifically to understanding how trees resist attack by pathogens. Their current projects deal with using FTIR and Raman spectroscopy to phenotype trees for resistance, mechanistically understanding how trees become more susceptible to fungal pathogens under conditions of climate change, and determining the causal agent(s) of an emerging disease of American beech, beech leaf disease.
