Accomplished immunologist with extensive experience and expertise in immunology, autoimmunity and inflammation using in vivo and in vitro models. Experience in leading a group to conduct research to identify cellular and molecular mechanisms as potential therapeutic targets in immunological, autoimmune and inflammatory disease. Recent research focused on the role of platelets in immune responses and inflammation using animal models of local and systemic trauma, namely ischemia-reperfusion and thermal injury, respectively. My research identified: 1) the differences in platelet responses and platelet-mediated immune responses after systemic or local trauma; and 2) the signaling pathways important in platelet activation in response to these different modes of injury. These areas of study led to many first and second author publications.
