Pedro M. Goncalves Pereira was born in Lisbon on February 10, 1968. He attended the Lycee Francais Charles Lepierre, in Lisbon, and the Institute of Biomedical Sciences "Abel Salazar" University of Porto where he graduated in Medicine in 1995. He completed his General Internship at the Hospital Geral de Santo Antonio in 1997, and the Internship of Neuroradiology at the Hospital Pedro Hispano. Attended the Gulbenkian PhD Programme in Biology and Medicine and obtained his doctorate in 2007 at the University of Porto with the Thesis "Extent and Severity of Tissue Damage in Human and Experimental Temporal Lobe Epilepsy" directed by Profs. F. H. Lopes da Silva and A. Martins da Silva, with unanimity.
