Bio
Pascal Vermeeren is an assistant professor of Theoretical Chemistry in the division of Theoretical Chemistry since 2022. Vermeeren’s research focuses on understanding the principles that drive and control chemical bonding and reactivity on the various interfaces of surfaces, by using state-of-the-art quantum mechanical simulations. His research can be divided into three themes: (i) From Homogeneous to Heterogeneous Catalysis; (ii) Single-Atom Heterogeneous Catalysis; and (iii) On-Surface Self-Assembly of Supramolecular Polymers. An important part of these research lines is dedicated to developing powerful and robust models, rooted in Kohn-Sham density functional theory, to analyze these chemical processes.
