Paul Andrew Wieringa was born in Owen Sound, ON, Canada, in 1980. He received the B.A.Sc. degree from the University of British Columbia (UBC), Vancouver, Canada, in 2004 and the M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Twente (UT), Enschede, the Netherlands, in 2008. He is currently working toward the Ph.D. degree at the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna, Pisa, Italy. He remained at UT as a Research Associate with the Biomedical Signals and Systems Group from 2008 to 2009. His main area of interest is the development of regenerative neural interfaces, focusing on aspects of neural tissue engineering and tissue scaffold micro/nanofabrication.
