Paola Tarroni

I have acquired several years experience in Pharma R&D in different roles. In my current position I perform technical and scientific appraisal of internal research projects. I develop, in collaboration with research and administrative managers the project plans. I appraise extra-mural research collaborations and review their technical and scientific components. I am responsible for finding public and private grants opportunities for Discovery Research activities at Axxam, and for predisposing grant's applications. From 2001 to 2006, I led the Target Biology group at Axxam, a position I maintained since joining the Bayer Research Centre in Milan following the Bayer-Lion alliance in 1999. From 1996 to 1999, I served as senior research fellow first in the Molecular Neurobiology Laboratory of BioScience Center, Pharmacia & Upjohn at Nerviano, Italy before joining the CNS Laboratory of the Bayer Research Centre in Milan in molecular biology and cell-based assay development. From 1988 to 1996, I gained my professional experience in molecular biology in the field of human receptor pharmacology while working in several academic research institutions - CNR Centre of Cytopharmacology, Department of Medical Pharmacology, University of Milan, Italy; ZMBH, Heidelberg, Germany; DIBIT, San Raffaele Research Institute, Milan, Italy. I hold a degree in Biological Sciences and a Master in Biotechnology from the University of Milan. In 2007 and 2009 I have served as a reviewer of the European research committee for the selection of project proposal to receive funding in FP7. With these functions, I gained experiences in biotech research, enabling technologies, project management as well as processes regarding pharmaceutical target identification, gene expression and molecular and cell biology, and I’ve been exposed to and international environment. I am the author of 15 peer reviewed publications.
