My research is focused on biomarker discovery and host directed therapies for infectious diseases. I have extensively worked on host biomarkers discovery for the rapid diagnosis of this disease in low and middle income settings. This work was performed during my PhD study at Stellenbosch University (South Africa), It has resulted in many peer reviewed articles and was patented in United State of America (Patent number: 10001481). During my postdoctoral fellowship at University of Cape Town (South Africa), I have developed a particular interest in different macrophage polarization states and protein secretion profiles associated to individual macrophage activation states. This work has been the baseline of my major scientific interest: Development of host directed therapy from natural medicinal plant products of tropical regions like Gabon. My appointment as the head of “Research and Special Diagnostic Unit” within the National Laboratory of Public health has been an opportunity for me to direct large national studies including the recent “SARS-CoV-2 National Seroprevalence study (PI of the study)”, Implementation of genomic national surveillance of emerging diseases in Gabon (responsible of programme in Gabon) and the national surveillance of flu (coordinator). The convention between the National Laboratory of Public Health and our medical research centre (CERMEL, Centre de Recherches Medicales de Lambaréné) has opened opportunity for me to perform most of my scientific activities in HDT and biomarkers. I have participated in more than ten clinical trials in vaccines and diagnostic tools developments.
