Oswaldo Luiz Alves

I am a Professor of Inorganic Chemistry in the Institute of Chemistry of the Universidade Estadual de Campinas (Unicamp), in Campinas, state of São Paulo, Brazil, where, in 1985, I founded the Laboratory of Solid State Chemistry (LQES), of which I still am the scientific coordinator. After finishing my Ph.D. in Chemistry at Unicamp in 1977, I was a post-doctoral fellow at LASIR-CNRS, in France, from 1979 to 1981. I am a full member of of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences since 2001. I am a member of several scientific societies, including the Brazilian Chemical Society, which I presided for the biennium 1998-2000. My current research interest are lamellar compounds, integrated chemical systems, nanocomposites, quantum dots, inorganic nanotubes, metallic nanoparticles, special glasses for photonic devices, development of nanoecomaterials, interaction of nanostructures with biological systems.
