Okechukwu Onianwa

Having obtained my PhD in Virology at the University of Nottingham in 2018, I have worked for three years as a Senior Virologist in National Collection of Pathogenic Viruses, Public Health England, preparing and supplying standardised virus products to the wider scientific community, to aid in the development of novel therapies and vaccines. Recently, I joined the Biosafety Investigation Unit, Public Health England as a Senior Environmental Virologist. Together with other members I investigate virus stability and persistence in the environment and its implications for fomite and aerosol transmission. My research interests include the detection and isolation of emerging viruses with zoonotic potential as well as the validation of processes used in virus inactivation.
