Ogbonna James C

James Chukwuma Ogbonna is a professor of Industrial Microbiology and Biotechnology, University of Nigeria Nsukka. He obtained a B. Sc. (First Class honours in Botany) from University of Jos, Nigeria; M. Eng. (Fermentation Technology) from Yamanashi University, Japan; and Ph.D from University of Tsukuba, Japan. He is currently the Director, National Biotechnology Development Agency, South East Zonal Biotechnology Centre, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and the immediate past Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), University of Nigeria Nsukka. He was the National President, Biotechnology Society of Nigeria (2010-2014) and the current President, Foundation for African Development through International Biotechnology. His current research interests include photobioreactor design and optimization, development of microbial cell culture systems and applications and bio-energy production. He has published 3 books, co-edited 3 books, has 13 book chapters, 111 peer-reviewed journals articles, 9 conference proceedings and over 120 paper presentations in national and international conferences in over 11 countries. His current H-index is 34 with over 3,760 citations in Google Scholars. Prof. Ogbonna is a Fellow of the Biotechnology Society of Nigeria, Fellow, Foundation for African Development through International Biotechnology, and Fellow, Institute of Corporative Administration.
