Evolution and adaptation in the tropical marine environment is what I would like to focus on in these times of climate change. Recently I have been working on coral bleaching and disease on the Great Barrier Reef looking and molecular and physiological responses to heat stress. Currently, my research project is at the Australian Institute of Marine Science where I investigate the change in coral health when colonies are brought from natural to aquarium habitats. Health is monitored as energetics, microbiome change and physiological changes with the aim to increase survival possibly via coral diets and probiotics ultimately enhancing coral restoration efforts.
