Nieves Saiz-Sapena

I am an anaesthesiologist with especial interest in the fields of Neuroscience, Bariatrics, Difficult Airway Management, Anaesthesia in Hostile Environments, and Safety and Quality. I was born in Valencia (Spain) in 1964, and finished all my studies from the school to the University with Honours. I could start my first research works at the Medical School, and continue later on in my internship in Cape Town (South Africa), and at the University of Pamplona (Spain) during my Anaesthesia training. Since then, I have been practising Anaesthesia both in public and in private practice, but have never lost my relationship with the University, both teaching and researching. I have done different activities related to the Universitat de Barcelona, Universidad Católica de Valencia, and Universidad Cardenal Herrera CEU, but also received continuing education with a minimum four meetings or courses per year, being international at least two of them. I am proud of having the first Diploma on Patient Safety, and also the first Master Course on Patient Safety of the ESA in Spain. At this moment I am involved in a nuber of activities: - Delegate of the sections of Neuroscience and also Safety and Quality of the SEDAR - Neurocritical course for the SEDAR (Spanish Soc of Anest, Crit Care and Pain) - Editor of some books (Ketamine, Thrombectomy, Pain), author of book chapters - Research in biomedical engineering - Reviewer of international journal journals My profile is very international, as besides having worked in South Africa and in a very international hospitals in Alciante, I speak Spanish (native), English (C1/2), German (C1/B2), French (B1), and Catalan (C1).
