My work is focused around two main themes: (1) sustainable processing of biomass, particularly from marine origin, and (2) renewable energy. Seaweed biorefinery approaches are high on the priority list, as is valorisation of seafood processing by-products. Future research will work toward developing interdisciplinary methods to ensure that biomass valorisation towards food, feed and fuel remain sustainable.
