Research
Currently, I am working on several projects:
1.COVID-19: Teaching and Learning in Higher Education. An international project with Dr. Silvia Bartolic (UBC), involving nine institutions from six countries on four continents. We focus on social forces that shaped teaching and learning under the rapid refashioning of courses to emergency remote instruction. We use specially collected data from students, faculty, senior administrators, and instructional design professionals.
2.Intergenerational Educational Mobility: a project with Alex Chow, a PhD student at Stanford, examining changes over the last century in the educational opportunities of Canadians whose parents have different levels of schooling.
3.Gender divisions in household labour: An examination of how the gendered distribution of domestic labour has changed between 1986 and 2015, using data from Statistics Canada’s General Social surveys (with Rima Wilkes and Larissa Sakamoto).
4.Canada’s Gender Equity Revolution: a project mapping the historical transformation in the roles of women and men in Canadian society, including changes in family life, the economy, education, law and politics, and the social policies related to both progress and persistence in gender equity.
