Dr. Young is a Clinical Epidemiologist with expertise in children's self-reported health assessment. She has developed several new child-centric measures, including the Activities Scale for Kids (ASK), the Aaniish Naa Gegii: the Children's Health and Well-being Measure (ACHWM), and many others. She began her career at the Hospital for Sick Children's Research Institute before moving to Laurentian University to focus on rural and northern children's health. She was the Director of the School of Rural and Northern Health at Laurentian University where she also held a Canada Research Chair in Rural and Northern Children's Health (2005 to 2015). She is now a Senior Scientist and Chairs the Mentorship Program at the CHEO Research Institute. She continues to hold cross-appointments at ICES North. She is actively involved in several local, national and international research programs and works with a diverse group of research staff and graduate students who share an interest in children's health.
