Nagi S. El-Saghir, MD, FACP, FASCO Professor of Clinical Medicine, Head of Hematology Oncology Division, and Director, Breast Center of Excellence, Naef K. Basile Cancer Institute, American University of Beirut Medical Center, Beirut, Lebanon. His research and activities are focused on breast cancer and young women and he has over 140 publications in peer-reviewed journals. He served on Panels for International Guidelines for the management of breast cancer including Breast Health Global Initiative (BHGI), Advanced Breast Cancer (ABC1 & ABC2) and adapted NCCN-MENA guidelines. He is Founding-President of the Lebanese Society of Medical Oncology (LSMO), Past President of the Lebanese Society of Internal Medicine, President of The Lebanese Breast Cancer Foundation (LBCF), Past-Chair of ASCO International Affairs Committee (2013-2014), Co-Chair of ASCO Guidelines Advisory Group, and Chair of Best of ASCO Lebanon. Dr. Nagi El Saghir graduated from Free University of Brussels, Brussels, Belgium, trained at The Brooklyn Hospital-State University of New York, and St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital Center-Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons in New York. He served on many Committees, Panels and Research Groups including ASCO, ESMO, EORTC Breast Cancer Group, ESO, EASO, WHO, UICC, AMAAC and Lebanese Ministry of Health Committees. He also serves as regular peer reviewer for Medical Journals and as editorial board member. He served as Deputy Editor of The Breast (2006-2013). He is author of “ABC of Breast Diseases” 2013 in Arabic Language, as well as Awareness Booklet “Knowledge Road Map to Cure”. He has received many awards including Lebanese President’s National Cedar Medal Rank Commandor (2020), Rank Officer (2014), Lebanese President’s Medal of Honor for Achievements (2002), Lebanese Society of Medical Oncology LSMO, Lebanese Order of Physicians LOP, Cairo University and League for Lebanese Woman’s Rights, Antelias Cultural Association - Lebanese Book Fair as Arab Cultural Icon (2019), Susan Butler Bulkeley Leadership Award (2021), and King Hussein Cancer Research Award - Lifetime Achievement Award (2021). AUBMC has named its main conference room on the the 4th Floor of its new Daniel ACC building in his name (Professor Nagi S. El Saghir Conference Room, dedicated in in No ember 2018).
