Mong'are Samuel is a lecturer/researcher at Kisii University. He does research in Entomology and Parasitology. Their current project is 'Ovicidal, larvicidal and insecticidal properties of Ricinus communis extracts on phlebotomine sand flies'. Dr. Mong’are is on the process of fighting leishmaniasis and he has come up with an insecticide which can kill and reduce the fertility of Phlebotomus duboscqi sand flies. He has applied for a patent for his product before proceeding to field trials.
