At the level of the terrestrial globe, arid regions are spread over a large area. Predictable climate change will help expand this area. Human pressure, contributes in turn to amplifying the phenomenon of edapho-climatic aridity. The flora and fauna being constrained to these phenomena, have no other choice than to develop adaptive strategies. We have been contributing for forty years of research, to elucidate these adaptive aspects, and in particular for xerophilic flora.
