Miodrag Kocić

Dr Miodrag Kocić was born on 9.6.1973. in Leskovac. He lives and works in Nis, he is married and father of three children. He finished primary school in Leskovac, as an excellent student and holder of the diploma „Vuk Karadzic“. He finished secondary Medical Military school majoring in pharmacy technician in Novi Sad in 1992., as valedictorian with the highest average grade. He enrolled at the University of Physical Culture in Nis in the school year 1997/98. He graduated on 7.11.2001., with an average grade of 8,81 in the course of study and grade 10 for graduate work. He enrolled at Master studies in sport, in the school year 2001/2002. Master's thesis entitled „Differences in motor, situational-motor and functional abilities of basketball players at different levels of the competition“ he defended on 12.5.2005. and earned the title of Master of Sciences of Physical Education. Doctorial thesis entitled „Influence of programmed training process on the development of motor and situational-motor abilities of young players“ he defended on 12.3.2008. and received academic title of Doctor of Science in Physical Education and Sports. At the Faculty of Physical Culture in Nis, after announcing a competition, he was first elected to the position of collaborator as a legal assistant on the subject Basketball on 16.9.2002. and then as an assistant on the same subject on 12.12.2005. After announcing a competition, he was first elected as a teacher docent on 18.9.2008., and after that on 29.5.2013. to the position of associate professor of Basketball. Today he works in the same position on the same subject at the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education, University of Nis; on Practical teaching of Skiing and Outdoor activities at the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education, University of Nis; he is a longtime collaborator in the realization of teaching process. On a proposal of the members of Chair, and by the decision of the Dean of the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education from 3.10.2012., he was appointed Head of the Department for team sports. By the decision of the Dean of the Faculty of Sports and Physical Education from 1.10.2017. in 2018, he was appointed Vice-Dean for Science and International Cooperation of the Faculty of Sports and Physical Education in Niš, until October 2018. Miodrag has been dealing with basketball since elementary school. He gained his first basketball knowledge in basketball club „Zdravlje“ Leskovac 1984-1988. (Pioneering selection), then basketball club „Radnički“ Novi Sad 1988-1991. (Junior selection - Regional and Unique league) as an active player and finally basketball club „NAP“ Novi Sad 1991-1992. (Senior selection - Unique League, Cup of Vojvodina was won). He has been President of the youth basketball club „Junior“ from Nis since 2005. He was a member of the Presidency of the Regional Basketball Alliance of Eastern Serbia from 2011. to 2015. Since February 2015., he has been a delegate at the Assembly of the Basketball Federation of Serbia. Since December 2020, he is a member of the Board of Directors of the Basketball Federation of Serbia. Since April 2021, he has been a member of the Commission for the evaluation of programs in the field of sports that fulfill the needs and interests of citizens in the field of sports in the city of Niš. He has been a selector and coach of the men's and women's team of the University of Nis since 2002., with whom he won a number of national and European trophies. On 12th European University Championships held in 2014. in Rotterdam (Netherlands) he won the bronze medal and on 13th European University Championship held in 2015. in Kopar (Slovenia), a silver medal. He won the bronze medal at the World University Cup in 2018, and the gold medal in 2019. He is a ski instructor licensed by the Serbian Ski Association in 2014. By President of the Republic in 1999., he was personally awarded the Medal of Merit in the field of Defense and Security of the country. He was personally awarded by the President of the Republic in 1999. with the Medal for meritorious service in the fields of defense and security of the country. By the decision of the Assembly of the city of Leskovac number 06-4/22-1 of 19.9.2022. year, as an expression of special recognition for exceptional results and successes in work, he won the October Award.
